Monday June 30

44-07 N, 124-44 W at 9 am it is cloudy and misty with no wind. Last night, around midnight the wind picked up on our nose, we put up the storm jib and one reef in the main. Tom & Ed did a 12 hour shift. They were so excited to finally have some wind. They are like kids in a candy store! We sailed for about 5 hours, then the wind died and we started to motor. We are now headed for Coos Bay for diesel.

Sunday June 29

6 am Sunday. We are motor sailing. Fog and clouds, yes Steve you were right. Seas are 3-4' about 3-5 seconds apart. We are out 60 miles off the Columbia River. Jackie is happy Rick. Also she wanted you to know she probably won't be in San Francisco until Fri or Sat. So take your time riding down to SF.

We are sorry to hear Lori (Don's wife) her grandmother of 93 passed away Friday. We are all thinking of you Lori.

Sorry it takes so long to get these messages posted. Airmail doesn't have many open lines, so we have to keep trying throughout the day.

It is now 6 pm Sunday, no wind, motoring. We are now heading for Eureka to get more diesel. We are 60 miles west of Tilamok Bay. A small baby sparrow (we think) has become our friend. He sat on Ed's finger and took a nap, very cute.

Saturday June 28

Team B is Tom, Ed & Becky. OK, time to launch the spinnaker. Ed gave me a big hug and poof perfect! It was a beautiful thing Will! And Gregg, I got some good practise driving.

We saw a grey humpback whale come halfway out of the water in front of the boat 5 times. Then it swam right next to us and gave us a wink. If I spit, I would have hit it. I was praying it didn't want to play, it just swam off.

The wind died and Denny wouldn't let us put up his new spinnaker so Ed & Becky took the spinnaker down for Team A and put up the jib. Thanks to Tom's professional driving, we are all safe and sound.

Everyone is happy and not sick. It's 5:00 pm, we are 14 miles out, nearing La Push and getting ready for dinner.
